Simple shapes such as squares in black, white and red move slowly across the screen accompanied by playful music and baby sounds. These shapes are then used to build high contrast patterns such as checkerboards and stripes known to hold baby’s interest. Close-ups of children’s faces highlight eyes and eye movement. Our original sound book with images created specifically for this DVD series by a Chicago artist introduces baby to simple vowel and consonant combinations. Serene underwater images are used throughout this video and the rest of the series to give baby time to process what is being seen and heard without becoming overwhelmed.
